Lived in Appleton during the mid nineties. Found it quite homophobic and very conservative. Just wondering if the area has become more progressive? Fox Valley is a bit more open minded now, There are a couple of bars and Harmony Cafe which is in league with Goodwill Industries. Green Bay and Oshkosh also have special groups and Lawrence U has some curriculum as well as do other colleges.

Appleton is a VERY conservative appleton, diversity is almost non exsistent. As far as pridefests or the like in Appleton or the Valley Most likely there is some city ordinance that would'nt allow it. If not, one would be created. Gay is part of the conservatism that is so prevelant in the area.
Although most people are outwardly friendly, too many still like to "judge". Bottom line Just dont make "waves" as it usually is not tolerated.

Define a redneck I like it when there's homosexual conservatives.
